Treatment Philosophy and Approach

I believe in a holistic approach to care that integrates trauma-informed practices that stem from the wisdom of my ancestry and education in Classical East Asian medicine. Classical East Asian Medicine harnesses thousands of years of wisdom. It is a medicine that unravels and understands symptoms as they express deeper currents of physiological processes. It is a medicine that nourishes the life and nature that is you.

Through these lenses, I aim to meet you where you are and how you are in the unfolding of your life. My goal is to foster and facilitate the means for you to have a more enlivened relationship with yourself. These objectives help me understand you and find the course of treatment that supports your fullest self; physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

The following are my guiding principles to care:

  1. Holistic Healing: I view each individual as a whole, interconnected being and address health concerns by considering the interplay between mind, body, and spirit. My goal is to restore self-awareness and connectivity to the body's innate ability to heal.

  2. Positional Sensitive Care: I honor and respect the complex and multi-dimensional backgrounds of my patients. My practice embraces posiitonal humility and seeks to create a welcoming and inclusive space where everyone feels heard, valued, and understood.

  3. Trauma-Informed Care: I recognize the profound impact that trauma can have on our health and well-being. My approach is informed by trauma-informed principles, providing a safe, supportive, and empowering environment for individuals seeking to heal from trauma, whether it be personal, interpersonal, cultural, societal, environmental, or intergenerational. I aim to foster a space that is guided by what healing means to you, through a mutually consensual experience and by the principle of patient-centered agency and autonomy,

  4. Education and Empowerment: I am committed to providing a space to empower you with the knowledge and tools to actively participate in your healing journey. I provide education on self-care practices, lifestyle modifications, and mindfulness techniques that can support your well-being beyond the treatment room.

  5. Individualized Treatment: I understand that each person's journey is unique, and there is no one-size-fits-all solution. My treatments are unique in that they are tailored to meet your specific needs, addressing the root causes of imbalance rather than merely treating symptoms. We take the time to listen, deeply understand your concerns, and collaborate with you to create a personalized treatment plan.

  6. Integrative Therapies: Drawing from the rich tapestry of ancient medical traditions, I offer a range of modalities (see the full list below). I believe in the power of integrating these diverse therapies to create a comprehensive and synergistic approach to healing.

  7. Pulse Diagnosis: My practice embraces the art and science of pulse diagnosis, specifically in the Shen-Hammer lineage, which traces back 400+ years. This intricate and insightful assessment provides us with invaluable information about your health concerns, allowing us to customize treatments, restore health to the nature that is you and optimize your well-being.

I am dedicated to walking alongside you on your path to wellness, supporting you at every step. It is my utmost privilege to witness your transformation and guide you toward a life of optimal health and vitality.

The modalities within East Asian medicine are also a preferred means of maintaining health and preventing illness. These tools can be used as preventative measures even if you are not experiencing specific or serious health challenges.
